America has been been deeply concerned and hard hit by the record gas prices of last year, and auto industry experts are warning us that high prices are here to stay, and slated to increase as time goes on. The reasons behind this are varied and complex, but no matter how you look at it, we are going to have to adjust or start walking. The great news is that we have many excellent cars lining up to be on our list of the best fuel efficiency in the works for 2009/10.

GM has given the go ahead to the electric Volt plug in hybrid for 2010, one of it's best hybrid cars, and is halting production of SUV's and some trucks at four of it's plants, laying off thousands of employees there. Hummer is in serious decline. Honda has sold more Accords and Civics this year, and Toyota records of Camrys and Corollas than Ford has been able to match, for the first time in well over a dozen years.
