If you want an unusual wedding cake, consider a beach wedding cake, a cupcake wedding cake, an Italian wedding cake or even a Hawaiian wedding cake! You can find wedding cake supplies cheaper online to keep your wedding cake costs down.

First, let's start with the foundation and support. Consider making a wedding cake that is a three tiered wedding cake. This is fairly easy to support and to decorate. If you are going to consider some traditional wedding cake styles, a three tiered white or chocolate wedding cake is ideal.

Start off with a cake board that is about four inches larger than the largest tier of the cake. It should be fairly sturdy so that it it does not bow and break the integrity of your cake.

You will put in wedding cake fillings and wedding cake frosting on two cake layers that will sit on this cake board. This is the foundation of the cake that you will be building on.making a wedding cake

For each successive layer of cake, you will need two circles of corrugated cardboard, which should be cut to the size of the layer and then glued together.

Cover the thickened cardboard circle with silver foil and lay it gently on top of the bottom tier. Let it sit for a moment before lifting it back up. There should be a small imprint in the frosting where the circle rested and you can use this to guide where you are going to place the structural supports.

You can use decorative fancy columns to support the cake. You can find these at a wedding cake supplies online store. Measure the depth of the cake and then press the supports into the cake in the area inside the mark left by the cardboard circle. This will make sure that the bottom tier maintains its form and supports the weight.

Then, put the cardboard circle back over the dowel supports. Then you will smooth on the wedding cake fillings and wedding cake frosting on the second layer before gently sliding it onto the foil-covered cardboard circle.

If you wish to continue building up, you will simply repeat this technique, up to a dramatic five tier cake. This technique will work very well for making sure that your wedding cake stays stable; by no means should you build a tiered cake without this kind of support!
