  • Printing

When it comes to the wording for DIY Wedding Invitations , the best way to write and print is through a desktop publishing program. You get to create exactly what to say using a beautiful font, and make printed invitations right at home.

There are so many software programs to make your own invitations, however there is no need to go out and buy one in the beginning, just download a free trial version and find the program you like best.

These software programs are not difficult to learn, but if you are out of your comfort zone, just think of the fun you are having and the money you are saving, and that will get your courage back up.

Later if you want to purchase publishing software outright, at least be sure you are going Pro or are planning to throw a lot of parties!

After you have the invitation cut, printed and folded, you get to embellish as you choose. This is the totally fun part so hunt down all those little scraps and baubles that fit with your theme, and go to town with it.

The other option you have is to avoid the printer altogether and use calligraphy. Calligraphy is beautiful and is commonly used for the less formal save the date invitation.

    Choose your Card Style

A traditional card format is a simple paper rectangle folded vertically. Use a pretty font and your printer for the easiest of all invitations. Another simple invitation is using just a blank card and envelope set already to go.
Choose your color and size to make printed invitations and embellish from there.

You can also set your program to print 2 or 4 to a page, which you will need to cut. A 4 up means basically a postcard size invitation. Postcards are for informal gatherings, and are not as much fun to embellish as they have to withstand going through the mail.

    Unique Invitation Ideas

Consider all the unique invitation shapes possible. You don't have to go with the traditional rectangle shape of most invitations. For a wedding, you could go with a heart shaped invitation, or for a party you may want a party hat shape, for Fourth of July, you could cut strips of frayed colorful card stock to make a fireworks shape.

The ideas are limitless. Just make sure you can find envelopes to fit the invitations in, or that you have planned to fold it in a way that fits.

Use paper punches and the shaped pieces cut from them to decorate your invitations. You can also use your new desktop publishing skills to make printed invitations and to print photos onto your invitations.
Take the photo with your digital camera, import to your program, resize and print.

It is definitely possible to make your own classy, nostalgic and creative invitations, whether they are for a Weddings, Birthday party, Graduation, or a Baby shower.

Keep these ideas in mind when you are ready to make invitations on your own. Remember, you'll save money, and you'll have a lovely Wedding Day.
