I only grew up around canning because I spent many childhood summers with my beloved Grandma at the Oregon Coast. My Mother didn't can, but her Mother sure did.
I was too little those summers to take in much about home canning, and Grandma didn't make me either. She knew I was most concerned with when we could leave for another day at the beach.
So like any smart woman, she taught me to get the housework done before we could go. But I digress. You are here because you want to learn all about Canning and Preserving, or if you already know how, you need home canning recipes and we are going to deliver!

You don't need to be scared the pressure canner is going to blow up, because you will only be using a pot of boiling water, otherwise known as a water bath canner.
When I got married, I joined my husband on our 40 acre farm and began thinking about, um, among other things, learning how to can. I started with applesauce, using my Grandmas hand powered applesauce sieve.
What Work!
I will never forget my sister, who came over to drop off her toddler with me, and how she smirked and smiled wide and said how "quaint" of me to can applesauce!
Fine. At least I would have self sufficiency skills, and I didn't stop there. I canned Peaches, raspberries, Spaghetti Sauce, even Salmon, you name it. And you can too.
