She is one who knows how to prepare frugal freezer meals for her family. Many people have the wrong idea about the word "frugal"; they sometimes think that it means being a lean, mean, deprivation machine, but it has nothing to do with that at all. Frugal means using ones resources, (whatever they are; money, food, time ) in an economical manner. In other words, without any waste, and in these difficult economic times being able to prepare frugal inexpensive meals is an art in itself. Begin with your low cost recipes, and gather your kitchen staples together.

To get started creating frugal meals and saving money on food for your family, you will want to gather at least 30 low cost recipes. It's not at all difficult to do. If you go online and conduct a search for budget meals, you'll find hundreds of sites that specialize in providing a great range of low cost recipes, vegan meals that cut out expensive meats, and some super tips on how to prepare frugal freezer meals. For example, chickens are great value if you use them to their fullest potential. You can easily prepare a good meal for four from one chicken, and if you cut it into portions before you cook it, you can use the carcass that's left over as the base for a great chicken noodle soup, or make a chicken stew a meal in itself if you cut the vegetables big and chunky. Don't forget to make a homemade loaf of crusty french bread to go with it. We calculated you can make your own bread for less than .42 cents!

A freezer is the best friend of the professional Hillbilly Housewife. The great thing about freezers is that you can prepare several dishes that are inexpensive freezer meals in their own right, and freeze them all at once. Canning has it's place, however freezing is an excellent way to preserve the summer vegetables. Just chop and freeze in the amounts you would normally need to prepare one dish. This cuts down on wasting food. There's never any need to throw rotten vegetables or other foodstuffs away all the time if you've got a freezer.

So the next time you are tired and need a hand with dinner, you have ready freezer meals that just need warming up. There are some other inexpensive meals you can cook as well. These are great examples of frugal meals at their best; minimum waste, minimum cost, and but high nutritional value. We can take a few hints from our grandparents who used to prepare things like meat pies, hearty stews, and dumpling and rice dishes. The noodles, rice and dumplings are great "fillers" and when you make these yourself the fat content is down while still providing a fresh, healthy, filling meal. These low cost recipes can save you a fortune in groceries, while teaching your kids palates what great home cooked meals taste like. Pretty soon they will forget about unhappy meals. You will begin to notice that your homemade meals begin to always go down well with your children because you can make them so tasty will all of the fresh ingredients.
