Energy Star Tax Credit Program

In warmer parts of the country that have fairly mild winters it may be hard to imagine the dread homeowners living in colder regions experience when their monthly electricity bill arrives.

We would like to share with you some good news about the energy star tax credit program available to relieve part of the yearly heating bills burden. Our team has dug up information from claiming tax credits for purchasing energy efficient space heaters to help tax payers who filled buried under a mountain of bills!

A monthly budget is step one for everyone who aims to become a success at frugal living. You may have each month's income and expenses down to a science but what about the yearly total?

Adding it all together gives a clearer picture of projected finances than focusing on month at a time. For example, add up what you expect to pay in utility charges for the entire year. You may be shocked at the cost and decide to invest in Energy Efficient Space Heaters rather than heating the whole house.

For anyone moving into a new home, it would be a wise move to discover the expected expenditures. For instance, if you find out your new home utilities average $4000; it pays you to look into the Energy star tax credits program for the following tax year.

It may be in your best interest to install a wall mounted heater or other type of energy efficient heater for areas that are mostly lived in and discontinue heating unoccupied rooms.

Not only will you save money due to the appliance upgrade, but you will also receive the money off your yearly tax bill. This helps foot the costs you paid from the previous year to upgrade and make your home more energy efficient.

Let's look at Ugrading your Refrigerator as this is a big appliance that uses a lot of energy if it is older than 2004.

What about a Hot water heater upgrade? You will want to look into the point of service on demand water heaters in addition to the newest Energy Star models.

Besides buying energy efficient space heaters to save your hard-earned money, there are steps you can take on upgrading your home and the government will reimburse some of the costs.

* Over the two-year period of 2009 and 2010, the energy star tax credit allows you to claim 30 percent of up to $1,500 for work done to improve your home's energy efficiency.

* A plus for frugal living fans is you do not have to hire someone to do the work but can do it yourself and still claim the tax credit.

* An example of the tax credit savings would be for a job costing $800, the amount allotted to you would be $240.

* Replacing Energy Efficient Windows to make your home more efficient can also be claimed for energy star tax credits. For instance, if your new windows cost you $1000, you would be credited $300.

The number one problem that lies behind escalating energy expenses is most homes are under insulated or have no insulation at all!

Recently, an acquaintance shared with me that her neighbors who are retired and on a fixed income pay nearly $400 on average a month for electricity.

This may seem not seem like a lot compared to other people but is upsetting to them because they are elderly and have no way to earn any extra money.

That is one of the reasons it is so important to share with others who may not be aware of available programs such as these tax credits.
