This may not seem like such a drastic increase, but when these products are combined with smart and conservative use, your energy bill can be literally cut in half. This can add up to some serious savings, especially in hot summer months when the air conditioner runs all the time. Buying an Energy Star air conditioner may be the best summer savings you get this year. Of course, the best air conditioners are those that only cool rooms in use. These window air conditioners may be less efficient than central air conditioning used on the same scale, but for those who can make do with only one or two cool rooms in the house, these are often the best way to save energy. On the other hand, for a family that often uses multiple rooms, a central air conditioner is definitely the way to go. The best way to get the most out of your air conditioning is to think about the ways in which you use it before you buy it. Courtesy of macinate Energy Star Tax Credit One of the easiest ways to recoup funds spent on an Energy Star air conditioner, or any other Energy Star Appliances is to apply for the Energy Star tax credit. This credit, which is worth up to $1500, will not pay for the entirety of the appliance, but it will help to cut down the cost. You can usually get back 30% of the money you spend on Energy Star appliances, so long as they were actually put in use. This means that you can spend up to $5000 to revamp your home with Energy Star appliances and get $1500 back. Combined with the money you will be saving on your energy bills, the appliance may pay for itself entirely. Courtesy of awinn233 Energy Star Rebates You may even qualify for Energy Star Rebates for new appliances that are purchased. These vary by state, but they can be as large as $500 in some areas. So, not only will you save money in the long run with decreased energy costs, but you’ll also save money immediately on the appliance itself. These rebates are only available for residential consumers, and typically only on new appliances that replace existing, older appliances. Additionally, each state determines how to manage the funds they were given, so the rules for each state are a little different. For instance, one state might allow only appliances such as Refrigerators , freezers, and washing machines, while another might allow only furnaces. In future rebate programs, the rules might change to meet the constantly shifting energy needs of each state, so it is important to stay on top of current programs to get the best possible deals.
