Crockpot Stew

Making stew in a crockpot is great because you can set everything up before you go to work in the morning and have a hot meal ready when you come home. Stew cooks for a long time, which can really bring out any spices you use in the mixture. Crockpot Cooking Recipes let you look like a chef with minimal effort by using only a few tips and tricks.

Crockpot Meals

Stew isn’t the only thing you can make in a crockpot. Crockpot meals are fairly diverse. You can make corned beef and cabbage, chicken alfredo, or even pot roast in your crockpot! Cheap Dinner Recipes tailored to crockpot cooking are plentiful.

For the most variety, the best place to look for crockpot cooking recipes is the local library. There are entire books devoted to crockpot recipes. Recipes from online are great too, although you should look at the comments on recipes to help decide if they’re going to turn out well.

Some people don’t like how uniform crockpot meals are. You can expect everything you make in a crockpot to essentially turn out bland and lacking variety. Everything will have been cooking together for hours, so it makes sense that it all has more or less the same flavor.

You can stop crockpot cooking recipes from getting boring by serving good Homemade Bread and fresh vegetable sides or salads with every crockpot meal. This allows for a variety of textures and flavors to be present at the meal.

Crockpot Cooking Recipes

The basic idea when using a crockpot is to put substantive ingredients in liquid and let them cook for hours. Whether or not the liquid ends up being part of the final meal, it’s good to use something flavorful because the liquid will be at least partially defining the flavor of the meal. This is why many people use a soup stock to cook with.

You need to make sure that the liquid covers any meats, but you likely won’t need as much liquid as you might normally for a stew or dish made on the stove. A crockpot has very little evaporation, so you don’t lose much water.

Using a crockpot is great for cheap cuts of meat, because the long cooking time makes these meats tastier and tender enough to fall off the bone. Carrots, potatoes, and beans all do very well in crockpots as well.

Using those little tips, you can make pretty much anything. Crockpot stew is essentially cubed meat and vegetables cooking in soup all day. You can use chicken, beef, or even stick entirely to vegetables.

It’s literally impossible to burn food in a crockpot, although overcooked meat and vegetables get tasteless after cooking for too long. Even so, it’s perfectly safe to set up the meal in the morning and not attend to it until returning in the evening.

Cheap Dinner Recipes

While there are other cheap dinner recipes, very few involve as little effort as crockpot stew. You can, however, make crockpot stew even more frugal. Instead of using crockpot cooking recipes and buying ingredients, simply set aside ingredients from the week for use in your stew.

Leftover crockpot stew is one of the most frugal recipes around, and it always turns out unique and amazing. Just make sure that if your ingredients are all already cooked, you don’t let them get too overcooked in the crockpot.

You might want to set your crockpot on a timer to make the best dinner possible. If you work long hours set it to low and leave for up to 10 hours. If you will be home sooner or got a late start in the morning getting dinner in the crockpot, you can use the high setting.
