Disney World Vacation and Savings Travel Guide See how you can have a Fabulous Disney Vacation for a Fraction of What Others Pay! 1. Save before you go. This means keeping gentle sacrifices in the frontal lobe everyday. Make a game of how little you can spend daily. Knock off the take out coffee, meals out or fast foods, driving unnecessarily, splurging on anything big or small, and even save by hanging your clothes to dry instead of using the big electric dryer money drop. Take this saved money and sock it in a can right in plain site, like above the kitchen sink. 2. While saving for a vacation, the only entertainment that you will pay for is an internet connection. Then you can spend your free time digging around for cheap travel sites and discounts and yes, you can also get the nightly news and TV for free there as well. 3. Learn the Top Effective Ways to Fly Cheap and don't Miss another Vacation! 6. Don't scrimp on what "makes" the vacation for you. If you are a honeymooner, you will want a lush room, not cockroaches. If you crave adventure, get a cheap clean room and spend on the activities that really interest you. 7. Plan your big adventures in advance from home, map your route, plan the cheapest and quickest form of transportation, and buy tickets to these attractions from home as well. You can find discounts on cheap travel sites this way, and since time is money you will have saved the time on your vacation not having to figure out the logistics when you should be there experiencing it! 8. If you are in the city, a train, bus or underground metro is far cheaper than a rental car or taxi. Be sure to pick up and wear a travel money belt under your clothing, especially in the city. 9.Car rental can be cheaper as a bundle including your hotel and airfare. 10. Plan carefully when renting a car. Know what is and is not a covered accident and do what you have do to cover an unforeseen problem. On my recent Christmas vacation in Virginia, sure enough, my brothers rental car was smashed up pretty good in the front end one night when a doe threw herself at his headlights for no apparent reason. He had prepared with his insurance company and car rental company carefully at check in, and so avoided a really costly problem. 11. Avoid extra costs that add up. Wash your own clothes and hang them to dry in the bathroom if you are staying in the same hotel for a couple of days. Or use the local cleaners if you need specialty clothing like pressed shirts for any reason. 12. Do not even think about using the hotel room phone. Use your cell phone, or better yet, text to talk. 13. Here's a tip I use every time I travel, since I am a little heavy on the kids right now. Take everything out of the mini bar, bag it and swear everyone off the contents. Then go to the grocery store or mini mart around the corner. Pick up breakfast, snacks and beverages of your choice. Don't forget the bottled water. The last hotel I was in charged me $5.00 for one water. I needed two to get through the night. Plan ahead! Fill the fridge. You will have cold orange juice, milk, cereal and bagels for breakfast. Not only will you save on a bundle on breakfasts, you will be happier getting out the door an hour sooner and off to the adventures you came for. 14. Spend time on cheap travel sites and reviews researching the local culture and cuisine. Hotels are not the answer to getting the best authentic food at the best prices. Locals are. You want to find out where the local flavor restaurants are, both for the experience and the value saved. 15. Cruising is a great value with so many new beautiful ships being built, and the competition for your dollars at all time highs. Fares have not increased in almost a decade. Cheap travel sites are one of the best ways to save money on cruising. 16. If you can schedule your travel dates with flexibility you likely can save money on your cruise. You should be able to have a grand time on less than $1000.00 each person at today's rates. 17. Avoiding the obvious bears repeating. Unless you can get a deal somehow, you are wise to forgo the extras aboard ship, like spa treatments and massage. 18. When traveling, you are likely to come across something while shopping or an experience out of this world offered. Splurge when it counts, you won't regret it, especially in light of how frugal you have been otherwise. Happy travels!
