A bantam chicken is a smaller version of the regular types of chickens of the standard size.

Some bantam chicken breeds have originated from Regular sized Chicken Breeds to retain the characteristics of that breed, but in a smaller version.

Others are true bantams, which have remained unchanged for centuries, many of them rare chicken breeds, being totally unique.

Bantams, sometimes referred to as Bantie Hens, or Easter Egg Chickens are said to have more personality than regular chickens in that they are, well, plucky!
